kalenedral: Not that you're likely to ever find him in a shirt. Armor or gtfo. (pretty fly for a dead guy)
[personal profile] kalenedral
part i.
Character name: Kalenedral
Fandom: World of Warcraft
Species (vampire, werewolf, what have you): Undead High/Blood-Elf
Character powers:

Makes things cold, makes things dead, and Limbface steals all the shiny things. (I'll write in the details later.)

part ii.
1.) Is it acceptable for your character to be mind-controlled or persuaded? How susceptible are they to mind control, hypnotism, or suggestion?

Kalenedral has been broken free of someone whose mind-control was so absolute that it involved thousands and thousands and hundreds of thousands of people and creatures. And then he went and personally fought against that same person without losing his mind all over again. So I've ruled that he has some seriously hefty defenses, now.

He's also spent a lot of time around elvish priests, who also use mind control abilities as a matter of course. And battling Alliance clergy.

2.) Is it acceptable for your character to have their mind read? Does this include traumatic memories? What is their mind like (disturbing, orderly, joyful, surprisingly empty, etc.)? If the character has psychic walls or preventative measures against psychic interference, please explain.

Simple mind-reading is probably not something he's anticipated. Go for it, just don't pick up on anything prior to his reanimation! Even his soul doesn't remember that shit. (And I don't want him to, it keeps him interesting.) His mind is militant levels of orderly, the guy is a goddamned genius under all that amnesia. And it's as cold as can possibly be imagined... I figure his mindscape is essentially Icecrown Citadel. If he catches you actively snooping around, you'll effectively be thrown off the walls and onto the spikes. Even if he likes you. Guy's a bit touchy about having other people in his head.

That said, it's a good way to get past some of the barriers his demeanor automatically presents, so I'm more than willing to have him not notice until if/when it gets to the point of "he has to notice, or he's an idiot".

3.) Are thoughts mentioned in narration acceptable for a telepath to pick up?

Go for it! In fact, if I know your character is a telepath, I'll probably narrate his thoughts more for you. Or I can let you know via PM or AIM or whatnot the general gist of what he's thinking.

4.) What about emotions, in the case of an empath? What sort of general emotional reading would such a character receive from yours?

Same as for telepathy. Kal feels most things about as much as any living person does, although in a rather alien way. But he's so shut-down externally that it would probably take an Empath (or telepath) to know the depth of it. Or spending enough time around him to get a decent baseline on how he behaves, of course.

In general his default is usually a quiet sort of confusion, around the living. And a strange father-like affection for his ghoul. And simmering far below all of it, the sadistic burning hunger to inflict pain and suffering that all Death Knights have to contend with. Kal is good at managing his, though, and he keeps it fed well enough to keep it to a dull roar.

5.) Are there any aspects of your character's mind, emotions, or memories you would like to be picked up, mentioned, or used in character? Conversely, is there anything that should not be noticed, or at least never mentioned?

Again, never ever pick up on anything about when he was alive. It's just not there for anyone to pick up. Anything else is fair game, and if you want a specific memory to fish up, feel free to contact me so I can throw info at you.

part iii.
1.) Physically speaking, what stands out about your character? Imposing size? Physical scarring? Tattoos?

Other than the fact that he's a well-preserved corpse of a nonhuman race and he has unholy blue fire for eyes? Uh. His hair's singed. And you'll never catch him in anything but full plate armor unless he's having to repair his only set, or something.

And of course, there's his ghoul, Limbface, who's never very far from his side.

Ain't he precious?

I suppose it's worth noting that while Kal is buff under all that armor, he's not nearly bulky enough to explain the sheer insane level of pure physical strength he possesses. And if a character tried to lift him, it's worth mentioning that his armor is a hell of a lot heavier than he makes it look.

He's not impossible to move, of course, especially if a character is also supernaturally strong. It's just worth saying here.

2.) Is your character immune to any of the following: poisons, chemical agents, telekinetic influence, radiation, or types of illnesses?

Not telekinetic influences! Feel free to fling him around with your miiiind powers. He's kind of used to it from doing battle against his fellow Death Knights. (And more to the point, their Death Grip abilities.) He may return the favor if you make him cranky, though.

The rest doesn't really work against him, being very much dead and all. And if he knows he's under attack (someone starts ripping his lungs out with miiiind powers, say), his defenses vs magic would come into play.

3.) Is your character physiologically different from a human in any way? This can include their blood, skin, hair, et cetera being made up of something unusual or simply differing in construction and durability.

He's a dead guy. No, seriously. He's not rotting, or decomposing in any way, and he has a heart beat... because he subconsciously thinks that he should. And he was regenerated fully. So everything is there and most of it is even functional, but he's still dead meat. His blood gets pumped around for a variety of handy reasons, but it doesn't carry oxygen. He doesn't have to breathe. If you ripped his heart straight out of his chest, he'd stagger for a moment from shock and then he'd go straight for your head.

He may be free, but he is still exactly what Arthas' necromancers made him.

Also, his bones are covered in runes. Primarily Unholy, but there's also Frost and Blood and Shadow. If you cut him open, they're right there in the bones, glowing incredibly freakishly. He was regenerated from a skeleton, so his bones are all that's left of his "original" body; the rest is regenerated.

There's also some corruption in his body that his system is still fighting off. It's bad on the edges of his forearms, the front of his torso, and it's the worst on his knees and shins and feet. Basically what was hit from the front while he was mounted, taking the neck of his horse into account and that he shielded his head with his arms. The skin is blackened a few layers down, leaving him discolored in general, and the magic there feels a bit... off.

All of that used to be necrotic, and sloughed off to the bone inside his armor. Clearly there's been some improvement over the years, since it's all at least solid and functional again. It's from the explosion of the Sunwell, and the Light he was hit by is poisonous to him in a way no normal poisons could be. Most of the lesser undead between him and the Sunwell were incinerated on the spot.

4.) Are you amenable to having your character be harmed in any way? How far are you comfortable with injury to you character going? Does this include being fed on by vampires, willingly or unwillingly?

Bwahaha, go for it. Kal feels pain just like anyone, he just isn't stopped by it or by trauma to his organs. Enough damage could kill him, which is what I'd like to avoid, but the sheer amount of punishment he can take before we're even close to that possibility is utterly absurd. He's been tortured before... hell, he's campaigned while half his flesh was necrotic and sloughing off in his armor, before. I'm mean to my DK. <3

And if any vampires want that gross half-coagulated foul crap in his veins, I'd be shocked. I imagine it would be like eating roadkill. And he probably wouldn't cooperate, which could be fun when you take into account that he can freeze his blood solid or boil it so strong and fast that it does Area of Effect damage to everything around him. In fact, it's one of his strongest moves other than his diseases.

Oh, that's right. And he can inflict all sorts of horrible plagues on people without them drinking his blood. I imagine he could really ruin a vampire's day. I suggest befriending him and asking before sticking a straw in his neck, if you're really keen on trying the 32nd flavor that they don't sell at baskin robins. If he likes you enough, he may consent just to see what happens. It's for science!

...But, you know, if you start looking like Limbface after nomming on him, it isn't his fault.

5.) Is it acceptable for other characters with abilities of shapeshifting or disguise to imitate your character? Does this include ability mimicry?

Oh man, poke me OOCly and we can hash out how well this would work. I'll tentatively say that form = sure, powers = probably not, but I'm willing to discuss it. Just like Kal doesn't huck fireballs around like he did when he was alive (Dark Simulacrum vs a fire mage aside), it's hard to see a non-DK managing to use DK abilities.

part iv.
1.) Can your character's presence or aura be noticed by other characters, and how would it look/feel to them? How would it manifest to a character with no supernatural abilities, if at all?

I imagine to someone supernaturally sensitive, he'd ping their radar. He's steeped in Unholy, Frost, Blood, and Shadow magic. And I mean steeped. It's literally engraved into his bones.

He doesn't tend to give off frosty cold on a constant basis, like some DKs do, so someone who isn't supernaturally sensitive would just get the obvious stuff. His default temperature is room temp, so he doesn't particularly chill or heat the area around him.

Though he is capable of freezing his blood solid, or boiling it, so I wouldn't rule out a strange temperature difference, but I'll generally write it in my pose if he's recently used an ability like that, or if frost is forming on his armor, etc.

2.) Can your character be affected by magic spells and curses?

Not unless you take him completely off-guard, and you'll probably only get the one shot.

Kalenedral is an Unholy Death Knight... the anti-caster class and spec of WoW. He can shrug off just about anything magical with a variety of abilities, and can even mimic a spell and fire it back. He's also very, very practiced at this, as all my PVP was also done ICly and warlocks and mages everywhere cursed his name daily.

You're more likely to ruin his day through mundane means; magic he just sort of chuckles at. Seriously, you're better off just stabbing him a lot. (Though your character wouldn't necessarily know this, of course.)

3.) Can your character be affected by sin and corruption, and be tempted toward expressing their darker urges (of whatever flavor)?

Death Knights are all 100% addicted to causing pain and suffering, to the point where if they don't sate the addiction they go into a frenzy and start ripping everyone apart around them until sufficiently stomped on. He is his darker urges. Kal considers himself a "civilized" monster only because he chooses his targets carefully, often going for the Scarlet Crusade, the Cult of the Damned, and fellow Scourge (those who have remained loyal to Arthas).

Here, he'll probably want to join the nearest asskicking group so that they can point him at appropriate targets. Because again, if he doesn't sate the hunger... well, he will. One way or another, it's going to happen.

4.) What sort of sins is the character prone toward, and how might they best be tempted, if you are interested in such an event?

Wrath? And all you'd have to do is crank his hunger up unexpectedly and get the popcorn. Just, again, I'd rather not lose my character from him being killed. And that's usually the only way to stop a frenzied Death Knight. But I'm okay with him being forced into a frenzy if there's any other way for folks to manage him.

Talk to me about it, I'm sure there's several people in the game who could pin him down long enough for him to be snapped out of it somehow. Kalenedral is super tough in general, as a former Scourge Commander. And he's specialized against magic... but he's not a god or god-like being. Someone pinning him down (and fending off his ghouls) while someone else shoots him full of Empathic pain and agony would be the cleanest non-lethal solution.

My own alt could do the latter, and I'm sure there's others who could do it as well.

5.) Are you amenable to the character receiving prophetic visions, including as part of a plot?

Kal would be highly confused by having such a thing happen, but I have no qualms with it OOCly. Note that he doesn't sleep, so this would have to be some kind of waking vision.

part v.
1.) Is threadjacking allowed? Under what circumstances?

Go right on ahead. If Kal is in a private scene it'll be pretty obvious.

2.) Is it acceptable for canonmates that are updated further than yours to inform your character of events yours has not yet experienced?

I'm not sure what they could tell him, or what constitutes "further" in his case (he could give zero fucks about Deathwing or pandas, for example). But go ahead.

3.) Are there triggering or upsetting topics you would like other characters to avoid mentioning to yours for the sake of continued comfort (racist words, homophobia, self-injury, etc.)?

Nope, go ahead.

4.) Are there any additions you would like us to make to this survey?

Nope!
